Description

The tea leaves are specially selected for quality, size and style and are then rolled into tight nuggets which means it keeps a lot longer than other green teas – legend has it that it’s so named as people thought the rolled green balls looked like gunpowder.
Boiling water causes them to open up like flowers and sink slowly to the bottom of the cup/pot. Gunpowder produces a reasonably strong dark-green brew with a slightly bitter but not unpleasant flavour.
Luxury Ingredients: Green tea
Tea(s) From: Taiwan
Hot tea brewing method: Gunpowder is more dense than other teas so one or two teaspoons for a teapot is all that is required – adjust accordingly for a single cup or mug.  Place tea in an infuser, teiere or teapot, pour on boiling water. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea).  Adding milk and sugar is not recommended.
Note: Traditionally, the recommendation has been that white and green teas be brewed at 180°F/82°C.  Regretfully, water may not be free of harmful bacteria and other impurities we, therefore, suggest  bringing the water to a boil and allowing it to cool to the desired brewing temperature.
