English Breakfast Tea

A bright morning wake-up tea with good body and full flavour – perfect with the Traditional English Breakfast!  Also makes excellent Iced Tea – add some lemon juice and enjoy on a sunny summer afternoon!

There is so much written about British tea but did you know that when it was first introduced to Britain, the government promoted it as an alternative to beer which at the time was commonly drunk throughout the day as untreated water was considered unfit for human consumption?

During WWII it was considered an important morale booster and so important that during the air raids of the Battle of Britain, stores of tea were hidden in 500 secret locations throughout the country to protect it.

Hot tea brewing method:  Place 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per cup in an infuser, teiere or teapot, pour on boiling water.  Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea). Add milk and sugar to taste.
